Laurel Orley on Gifting, Nashville, and Her Inspiration

Daily Crunch Snacks sprouted 15 years ago when Diane Orley perfected a healthy, uniquely crunchy, sprouted snack for friends and family.  Their response inspired Diane and her niece, Laurel, to create Daily Crunch. Their mission is to provide high quality, healthier, on-the-go snack options.  Daily Crunch is non-GMO certified and uses a multi-dense soaking and dehydration process to ease digestion and make snacks uniquely crunchy.

We asked Laurel to share with us about her favorite gifts, and what she loves about Nashville!  Read on for her answers, including what’s been inspiring her lately.

What locally-made product(s) do you use and love?

I’m obsessed with Little Seed Farm Activated Charcoal Scrub.  I found out about it at the Porter Flea Holiday Market a few years ago and have been using it religiously since!  I even gifted it at my baby shower to everyone who hosted. I also love Goo Goo Clusters because I have a sweet tooth and they are just so good!

What has been inspiring you lately?

I’ve been inspired by my Whitland neighborhood during this difficult time.

They have all found ways to help the community, volunteer, check in on each other and even started a social distancing teddy bear hunt where people hide teddy bears in windows for kids to spot on their social distancing walks.  My kids love it!

What is your favorite meal and why?

Brunch is my favorite meal by far.  I moved [to Nashville] from NYC 5 years ago where brunch is the go-to meal.  Nothing is better than an everything bagel with lox and cream cheese or an omelette with a cup of coffee at a cafe with friends on a weekend.  Nothing!

Where in Nashville do you take your out-of-town guests?

I love to take them to Henrietta Red for brunch, Mas Tacos Por Favor for lunch and a cocktail and dinner at Ellington’s at the Fairlane Hotel.  After dinner I usually take them to Tootsies where I try to snag the VIP table (the VIP is the best kept secret in town!). Cheekwood is always on the list too!

What is your favorite gift to give?

I love to give friends a gift certificate for a foot massage at BUCCA.  If you haven’t been it’s a great place to go!

What is your favorite gift you have received?

It was recently my 40th birthday where my husband got me the necklace I’ve been wanting.  The necklace is in the shape of gelato ice cream which is my favorite!

Which Daily Crunch flavor is your personal favorite right now, and why?

The Cherry Berry Nut Medley is my favorite.  I love the mix of the sprouted cashews, walnuts and almonds with a punch of sweetness from the tart dried cherries and blueberries.  They are super delicious on yogurt in the morning or just on their own.
