Get Close to Clooney

The tribute will be available online at Nashvillefilmfestival.org and will include a discussion with legendary actors from the film, including George Clooney, John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson as well as an interview and music performance by Chris Thomas King. It will also feature musical performances of classic songs from the film performed by Chris Thomas King, Dan Tyminski, Kathleen Edwards and The Dead South, and others.

(VIRTUAL) EVENT WHAT

Cuban for Jazz

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, enjoy a free noon concert on Wednesday, September 30th featuring Changüí Majadero. Changüí is the predecessor of son cubano and salsa, a style of music specifically from the region of Guantanamo, Cuba. Its origins can be traced back to the 1800s, during the days of slavery in Cuba. Changüí is to Cuba & Latin America what the blues & early jazz is to American music. Changüí Majadero is an adventurous ensemble which is reintroducing Cuban Changüí to a new generation.

MAKER WHAT

Quoth the Raven, Gimme Some More

Steven Russell is the Nashville entrepreneur behind Stark Ravin’, and he has put serious love into developing an excellent Chipotle & Brown Sugar Barbecue Sauce. Inspired by nomad barbecuers, Steven started with the name and then made a recipe to match. Batch was his first customer and continues to be one of his top buyers. When you shop with us, you make a big impact on our makers. Read more about Steven and his experience as a small sauce maker.

FOOD & DRINK WHAT

Fish and No Pizza

Ed's Fish & Pizza House opened in 1972 and was featured on Tennessee Crossroads last year. It has been awhile since they have served any pizza, though, removing it from the menu in the late '70s. The North Nashville landmark signage has stayed the same and, fortunately, so has the fried fish recipe. The best news of all is that the restaurant remains open for takeout during the pandemic but still no pizza.

BONUS WHAT
